untitled

Having finished the juice feast in mid July, I realize that I am quite, quite far behind on blogging. Summer came around, and with that a title-wave of busy-ness.

Anyway, to recap my experience... hopefully briefly.... it was amazing. I truly do not believe I could have done a better thing for my body. It still amazes me however that I drank ONLY juice for a month and a half! By the end I was loosing my appetite and juice was becoming quite unappealing, well at least my morning green juices were. My body was only wanting about 2 quarts of juice per day, which was a pretty big decrease, since in the beginning I sometimes drank 4 and a half quarts per day! So, I decided it was time to stop my feast.

Although at first I was quite hesitant to going back to solid food... the idea of eating a carrot or cucumber was not at all appealing, I definitely didn't want to have another green juice. It was more of a letting go process than anything else. I look the feast as such a significant event/adventure in my life and it was strange to let it go... not to say that I will never do a feast again! (my idea is to do one at least once a year).

I swear the juice woke up my taste buds, or maybe just raw food in general, but everything I eat now tastes so much better than it has ever in my life. Eating lunch is always just amazing. Even a plain cucumber tastes better than I ever remember it tasting. Just bite into one, with a tad bit of salt, I swear, ten times better than cutting it up with a knife!

As this raw journey goes along, my eyes open. I've realized, and often have this great, overwhelming sense of gratitude and love. It almost brings me to tears. And yet, I am always ecstatic about it.

Just a side note: My 18th birthday was last week, and we visited "Catch A Healthy Habit" in West Haven CT. OH MY GOODNESS! It was indescribably delicious.
